Jeremy Lin, Pro Basketball Player
Jeremy Lin grew up in Paulo Alto, CA, where he was a standout athlete and student. He attended and graduated from Harvard University, where he continued to impress with his basketball skill and work ethic. Despite his vast success in leading his team and gaining conference and national awards for his play, Lin didn’t get the attention expected from the NBA. Well, not until he started to play.
Lin’s talent could not be denied as he disproved stereotypes that wrongly portrayed him as lacking athleticism. He finally broke through the bamboo ceiling in the 2012 season when the world got to see his skill on full display as the world witnessed what became known as “Linsanity.” Lin became a full out NBA star, and in 2012 received the ESPY Best Breakthrough Athlete Award.
Injuries led to Lin taking a step back and moving his basketball career overseas to the CBA in China. The stereotypes and racism that he faced throughout his life compelled him to not just sit back and accept the mistreatment of others. As he continues a career in professional basketball he uses his spare time to create equality and bring awareness to injustice through The Jeremy Lin Foundation and his various social media accounts.
